Mi nombre es Alejandro Rivero, nací en 1990 en el departamento de Maldonado, Uruguay, y me creé un blog con el propósito incial de tener un lugar en el que pueda publicar artículos sobre los temas que me interesa escribir. Me gustan varias cosas, pero las que más me apasionan son el fútbol, viajar, y compartir cultura, así que la mayoría de mis escritos hablan sobre esos temas. Ese deseo inicial de simplemente querer escribir ¨porque me gusta¨ ha ido evolucionando con el correr del tiempo, y ahora mi blog es más que nada una fuente de información y asesoramiento para personas interesadas en viajar al extranjero, de historias y entretenimiento para quienes aman el fútbol y de lugares con mucha historia en Uruguay
My name is Alejandro Rivero, I was born in 1990 in the city of Maldonado, Uruguay, and I created myself a blog with the initial purpose to have a place on which I can publish articles about the topics that I am interested on writing to. I like many things, but the ones that I am more passionate about are football, traveling, and to share culture, so most of my writings talk about these topics. That initial desire of simply writing ¨because I like it¨ has evolved over time, and now my blog it’s mostly a source of information and advice for those persons interested on traveling abroad, of stories and entertainment for those who loves football and of places with many history in Uruguay.
En marzo de 2014 fui por tres meses a estudiar inglés a Liverpool, Inglaterra, viaje que aproveché para conocer algo de Italia e Irlanda también. Ese fue mi primer viaje al exterior solo. Volví de ese viaje por Europa y algo había cambiado en mí. Durante 2015 trabajé y estudié inglés para reforzar lo aprendido en la tierra de los Beatles y en 2016 solo trabajé con el propósito de juntar dinero para volver a salir de viaje. En Octubre de 2016 fui a Nueva Zelanda como turista, y una vez allí logré conseguir una visa de trabajo llamada Working Holiday Visa. Luego de quince meses en ese hermoso y fascinante país me fui a Alemania con el mismo tipo de visa, estando ahí por un año, y en ese año viví otras experiencias maravillosas en el medio, por ejemplo el mundial de Rusia, visitar otros países como Bélgica, Francia, Holanda, España (dos veces) y Croacia, y siempre con la mente puesta en tener nuevas experiencias que me permitan desarrollarme, disfrutar lo máximo posible y seguir viajando.
In march of 2014 I went for 3 months to study english to Liverpool, England, travel on which I took advantage to know something of Italy and Ireland too. That was my first travel abroad alone. I came back from that travel through Europe and something had changed on me. During 2015 I worked and I studied english to beef up what I learned on The Beatles land and in 2016 I just worked with the purpose of saving money to came back to travel. In October of 2016 I went to New Zealand as a tourist, and once there I achieved to get a work visa called Working Holiday Visa. After 15 months in this beautiful and fascinating country I headed up to Germany with the same kind of visa, being there for one year, and in that year I lived another wonderful experiences in between, for example the Football World Cup in Russia, to visit other countries like Belgium, France, Netherlands, Spain (twice) and Croacia, always with my mind setted up on having new experiences which allow me to develop myself, enjoy as much as I can and keep going traveling.
Cuando la visa de Alemania finalizó en Febrero de 2018, me fui por dos meses a un lugar muy pequeño al norte de Inglaterra llamado Rydal, haciendo un voluntariado en una escuela holística y casa de huéspedes donde tuve experiencias nuevas y viví en un lugar del mundo en el que había soñado con vivir cinco años antes cuando lo conocí en mi primer viaje al extranjero en 2014.
When the visa for Germany ended up in February of 2018, I went for 2 months to a very small place at the north of England called Rydal, making a volunteering in a holistic school and guest house where I had new experiences and I lived in a place of the world on which I dreamed of to live five years ago when I did my first travel to the overseas in 2014.
Luego de esta experiencia en Inglaterra viajé a Suecia, donde viví un año gracias al programa de visas Working Holiday (mismo tipo de visa que para Alemania y Nueva Zelanda). Mi tiempo en Suecia se dividió de la siguiente manera: viví en una comunidad Hare Krishna haciendo un voluntariado durante mi primer mes en una granja localizada bien al sur del país nórdico en Lövestad. Luego de eso, viví seis meses en Gotemburgo (centro – sur del país) trabajando mayormente en restaurantes, y posteriormente me fui a la Laponia sueca; más precisamente a Särkimukka (norte de Suecia) a hacer la temporada de invierno. Mis últimos cinco meses de visa, los pasé en el Círculo Polar Ártico entre nieve, trineos de perros, temperaturas medias de -17 C y auroras boreales. Un sueño, o muchos sueños juntos, hechos realidad.
After this experience in England, I traveled to Sweden, where I lived for a year thanks to the Working Holiday visa program (same type of visa as for Germany and New Zealand). My time in Sweden was divided as follows: I lived in a Hare Krishna community volunteering for my first month on a farm located well in the south of the Nordic country in Lövestad. After that, I lived for six months in Gothenburg (center – south of the country) working mainly in restaurants, and afterwards I went to the Swedish Lapland; more precisely to Särkimukka (north of Sweden) to do the winter season. My last five months of visa, I spent them in the Arctic Circle among snow, dog sledding, average temperatures of -17 C and northern lights. A dream, or many dreams together, come true.
Las experiencias de los viajes me han marcado mucho, luego de estar casi 4 años fuera de mi país conviviendo con personas de otros países, trabajando con personas de cualquier país o continente del mundo, llevando adelante una vida distinta en países con culturas, costumbres e idiomas totalmente diferentes a las de la mi país, aprendiendo sobre mí mismo, sobre el ser humano en general y viviendo experiencias completamente nuevas para mí que me han hecho crecer y desarrollarme interiormente.
The travel experiences marked me a lot, after of almost 4 years outside of my country living together with people from another countries, working with persons from any country or continent of the world, going ahead with a different life in countries with cultures, costumes and languages completely diferents than the ones in my country, learning about myself, about the human being in general and living new experiences fully new for me that made me to grow up and develop inwardly.
¿PORQUÉ VIAJO? / WHY DO I TRAVEL?
Viajo porque es lo que más feliz me hace. Sé que los seres humanos no seremos jamás 100% libres porque siempre habrán circunstancias que no dependerán de nosotros mismos, pero pienso que viajando es donde más cerca me siento del verdadero significado de la palabra libertad. Así que además de hacerme feliz, viajar en mi caso es también como una búsqueda de libertad personal.
I travel because it is what it makes happy the most. I know that human beings we will never be 100% free, but there always be circumstances which will not depend of ourselves, but I think that traveling it is where we are closer to the real meaning of the word freedom. Therefore, in addition to make me happy, to travel in my case it is like a searching of personal freedom.
Cuando empecé a escribir lo hice para tener un lugar en donde pueda ver de manera clara y organizada todos los textos sobre a los que a mí me gusta escribir, y con el paso del tiempo a medida que cada vez más personas ávidas de viajar como yo me han escrito haciéndome consultas sobre viajes, y al mismo tiempo dándome cuenta de que yo servía como un punto de partida para la inspiración personal de algunas personas, he decidido tomarme el asunto de la escritura más en serio, y poder brindarle desde este pequeño espacio a quien sea que lo lea la ayuda necesaria para que tome coraje y se anime a hacer realidad sus sueños. Pienso que el mundo es un lugar maravilloso, que la vida es una sola y me produce una especie de melancolía ucrónica la sola idea de pasarla en un solo lugar y nunca jamás poder volver a viajar. Pienso que no hemos nacido con el mero propósito de tener una vida establecida de acuerdo al paradigma social y cultural bajo el cual nos hemos criado, y que romper esas barreras mentales y culturales nos puede llevar a vivir otra realidad en la cual somos los dueños de nuestra vida, y desde el amor, el trabajo y la confianza podemos lograr mucho más de lo que queremos o imaginamos.
When I started to write I did it to have a place on which I can see in a clear and organized way all the texts that I like to write about, and over time more and more people avid of traveling like me started to write me to make me enquires about travels, and at the same time I realized that I served as an inspiration point for some people, I have decided to take this topic of writing more seriously, to be able to give from this small space to whoever that reads it the needed help to take courage and be encouraged to make their own dreams come true. I think that the world it is a wonderful place, that life it is just one and it makes me feel an uchronic melancoly the single idea of thinking about to live in a single place and never else to travel again. I think that we did not born with the mere purpose of having a life established agreed to the social and cultural paradigm under the one on which we have been raised, and to break these mental and cultural barriers can lead us to live another reality on which we are the owners of our lifes, and from love, work and confidence we can achieve much more than we want or we imagine.
¿QUÉ ESTOY HACIENDO ACTUALMENTE? / WHAT AM I UP TO NOWADAYS?
En Marzo de 2021 me mudé a Montevideo y desde ese entonces estoy estudiando. Por primera vez y con 31 años, decidí empezar a estudiar una carrera que me parece muy interesante y me apasiona mucho como lo es la Licenciatura en Comunicación. La carrera dura cuatro años (al menos en un principio) y es dictada por la Facultad de Información y Comunicación (FIC), perteneciente al organismo central de universidades públicas de Uruguay, que es la UDELAR (Universidad de la República). Por supuesto que amo viajar, y volveré a viajar, de eso no hay dudas al respecto, aunque por ahora en este momento de mi vida tengo el foco puesto en el trabajo y el estudio.
In March of 2021 I moved to Montevideo and I am studying since then. By the very first time and being 31 years old, I decided to start to study a career which looks very interesting and passionates me a lot as it is a Degree in Communication. The career lasts four years (at least in the beginning) and it is dictated by the Faculty of Information and Communication (FIC), belonging to the central body of public universities of Uruguay, which is the UDELAR (University of the Republic). Of course that I love to travel and I will do it again, I have no doubts about that, although by now in this moment of my life I have the focus in work and study.
